Central Oregon sun and snow are hard on a deck. When the boards are soft and the railings wobble, it is time for it to go. Calvin tears out old decks and hauls the lumber away.

Wood and composite. Ground-level decks and raised ones.

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

Before a new deck goes in

When a deck is coming out before a rebuild, Calvin takes the old one down to the posts or the ground, depending on what the builder wants left.

Tell Calvin what the builder wants left before he starts.

Hot tub on top

If a hot tub sits on the deck, it comes out first. See hot tub removal. Drain it before the job.

Fences and sheds can go on the same visit. See shed removal and light demolition.

Raised and ground-level decks

A ground-level deck comes apart board by board. A raised deck needs the railings and stairs off first, then the boards, then the framing. Calvin works top down and loads as he goes.

Usable lumber is rare after years outdoors, so most of it goes to the landfill. Metal fasteners and brackets go to recycling.

Planning the tear-out

Clear furniture, grills and planters off the deck. Make sure any lights or outlets on it are disconnected. Calvin takes it from there.

Payment is cash, check, card or Venmo.

Send the whole deck in the photo

Show Calvin the whole deck, including the stairs and the underside if you can get a picture of it. That tells him how much lumber is coming off and whether the framing comes out too.

Wood and composite boards load the same way. Metal railings and brackets are separated for recycling, and the rest goes to the landfill.

“Did an incredible job hauling away all the unsold items from a huge estate sale. They even took apart a huge heavy hoist that I thought could never be moved but they did it. Super efficient and hard working. I would definitely recommend and use again.”
